Archives

The role of the Archives Service is to:

  • acquire,
  • preserve
  • make publicly available archives that relate to past and present life in the Stirling Council area.

Archives are original records produced by official bodies, societies or individuals that are preserved because they provide evidence and information about past events, activities and people.

They can be used for a variety of purposes, such as :

  • uncovering the origins of your house;
  • learning about your local community’s past;
  • exploring your family’s history.

Access to the archives under our care is free of charge and everyone is welcome to use the service.

Check out our online exhibition and find out more about your area.
