Employability

Employability logoWorking with local employers

Stirling Council's Employability Service helps businesses recruit and retain a local, diverse workforce.  In partnership with local employers we help local people overcome barriers - for example disabilities or learning difficulties - which may be preventing them from moving into employment and towards and independent life.

Employers benefit too. We can help you make sure your organisation is inclusive, flexible and making the most of all the skills and potential in the local community.

The Employability Service:

  • matches clients' needs, skills and abilities with employers' opportunities
  • encourages employers to be flexible and to make reasonable adjustments to the workplace so it is more accessible to and suitable for people with disabilities
  • supports employees who have suffered a serious illness or who have a condition which threatens their employment
  • raises awareness about the potential and abilities as employees of people with disabilities or learning difficulties
  • gives clear information about health and safety and disability discrimination law
  • arranges flexible work placement opportunities in all kinds of businesses and organisations
  • works in partnership with a range of local organisations to offer a comprehensive recruitment support service

Employability image"We were very happy to work with Stirling Council's Employability Service in providing work experience placements. A client from Employability came to Tesco for a period of work experience. This was so successful that we were delighted to offer him a permanent post on his own merit. He is a valuable and popular member of the team and we can always rely on his standard of work" - Fraser Campbell, HR Manager, Tesco, Stirling
