Compass for Life is a dedicated support service for young people who need extra help to develop their personal and work related skills.
There are different Compass programs available. Some focus on your everyday skills, others on any problems you may have such as court cases or health issues, others on training you for a particular type of job or finding you a job with training. If you're not yet old enough to officially leave school, the Alternative Curriculum programme could offer you the chance to learn in a different environment.
Whatever programme you are on, you will work closely with a Support Worker and have access to Specialist Workers. Support is given on a full time, part time or ad-hoc basis (- as you need it). This could take place as part of a Compass group programme or on a one to one basis with a Support Worker.
An attendance allowance and travel expenses may be given, as well as other benefits such as a lunch allowance.
If you want to join Compass, you need to be referred through Careers Scotland or your school.
