Scottish pop duo phenomenon Benny Gallagher and Graham Lyle bring their spectacular reunion show to the Tolbooth. Known as quality songsmiths in a decade that was more famous for glam acts such as the Bay City Rollers, the pair recorded a series of hits including I Wanna Stay With You, Heart On My Sleeve and Breakaway.
The double act has worked alongside stars from Paul McCartney to Eric Clapton, while their songs have been recorded by Bryan Ferry and Ringo Starr. At the peak of their songwriting powers, Gallagher and Lyle’s radio-friendly pop numbers were being snapped up by other acts as fast as they could write them. Their song A Heart In New York was performed by Simon & Garfunkel in New York’s Central Park to an audience of 500,000. Lyle has also written songs for Tina Turner including What’s Love Got To Do With It.
Though they split up in 1979, the duo reunited thirty years later in 2009 and have been together ever since, their live show recapturing all the old magic as if they’d never parted ways.
